Corvallis Community Band

Sharing the joy of music with our community

Rehearsal News

Our rehearsal is on for Tuesday Nov. 19th at Ashbrook from 7-8:30 is going to be a lot of fun as we prepare for our December 14th concert. Information from Cheryl follows.

Also, be sure to put December 16th on your calendar for our holiday band party at the Corvallis Community Center.  I’ll send more details (potluck and white elephant gift exchange) in the next week or two.

HI Everyone!
Glad to hear the Children’s Concert went well.  I’ve been taking my time recovering from being sick almost right away after we transitioned, am still coughing, but hope it disappears soon.

We have to dig back into our Winter/Holiday Concert music quickly and efficiently. Here’s how our next 3 rehearsals will go:

11-19

  1. To Dream With Open Eyes
  2. Christmas Waltz (soloists please listen to the recording for idiomatic jazz inflections, adding them into your solo lines if possible, so we aren’t sounding quite so “straight/classical”.  Other sections have already added glissando’s, etc to try to add to this ambiance while we play it)
  3. Most Wonderful Christmas
  4. March of the Toys

11-26

  1. Beautiful Place
  2. 1000 Cranes
  3. Alleluia
  4. Joy Revisited

12-3

  1. Polar Express (if time allows bits of this might appear in the above 2 rehearsals??)
  2. -?) run as much of the above as is needed, but at this point I really don’t want to work anything.

12-10 Dress Rehearsal

  • Dancers – Christmas Waltz, March of the Toys, Bones Appetit/Christmas Time is Here at very beginning of rehearsal. They then leave.
  • Whatever time we have left we run the other pieces in concert order. We might be a little long on rehearsal that night – I hope not, will try to make it all happen.

I’m concerned we may be short multiple players on 11-26 due to folks leaving for Thanksgiving early.  I hope not, but we may need to adapt/shift music if this happens. But I really don’t want to push rehearsing “issues” in pieces to 12-3.  And again I’ll provide the pdf w/ the concert order and attached music to listen to, think about, practice with.  ;D

See You all on Tuesday!

Also, I got another report from folks at the symphony rehearsal that the stage at Ashbrook was  cold Sunday night. Please plan on wearing warm clothes and layers!

See you tomorrow!

Karin
